On a Mission to Spread the Love of Reading in Oshkosh
If you can read, you can do anything. For individuals and communities, reading opens doors to empathy, learning, creativity, problem-solving, and so much more. Ultimately, it leads to a stronger community.
That’s why community partners are launching READ MORE, a community-wide campaign designed to build a culture of reading across the Oshkosh community. The message is simple: “Reading Makes Better ____.” Now you’re invited to fill in the blank and join in the movement!
Reading Changes Lives in Oshkosh and Beyond
Research continuously shows that reading aloud and having books at home boosts language development, confidence, and long-term academic success.
Research also shows that the support of an adult in a child’s life can greatly influence their future. Seeing more adults sharing the love of reading and modeling the behavior can have a positive impact on literacy. That’s why Read More was started — to harness the power of community, ongoing support, and collective action.
Even reading for just 10 minutes a day has been shown to help build vocabulary, support brain development, improve school readiness, and build stronger connections
Rewriting Our Story, One Book at a Time
However, many families here in Oshkosh lack access to books and other reading materials, making community-wide support even more important.
We believe that reading doesn’t just happen in a classroom. That’s why we’re working to bring a love of books and reading into homes, libraries, and throughout Oshkosh. Since launching in 2025, we’ve:
Donated 400+ books
Read More has distributed more than 400 books throughout the Oshkosh community — and we’re not slowing down!
Partnered with Ambassadors
We’ve partnered with community ambassadors — including parents, businesses, nonprofits — to spread the love of reading and build a community full of readers.
Built Awareness
We’re continuing to build awareness and spread the joy of reading throughout local community events, school events, and library programs, like our holiday book drive.
