Join the Movement in Oshkosh
Read More is a movement to build stronger readers, families, and neighborhoods in Oshkosh through the power of stories, and we need your help to make it happen. Here’s how you can get involved.
Donate Books
Help us get books into more hands. Donate new books for all ages, from board books for babies to novels for teens. Your donation could be the reason someone falls in love with reading.
Drop off book donations at the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, located at 120 Jackson Street in Oshkosh.
Host a Reading Event
Let’s collaborate on a special reading event to make reading visible everywhere in Oshkosh. Individuals, businesses, and community organizations are key to spreading the joy of reading. Join the fun through:
- Book swaps
- Storytimes
- Read-a-thons
- Book groups or community reading programs
- Book drives
- Financial support or sponsorship of a Read More Oshkosh community event
Volunteer Your Time
Research shows that when adults spend just 10 minutes a day reading with a child, it can have a significant positive impact on literacy development and foster a love of reading. Whether you can volunteer an hour or a few days each month, there’s a place for you in our story. Opportunities include:
- Assisting at family reading nights and community festivals
- Delivering donated books
- Supporting literacy programs in local schools
- Volunteering to read in classrooms
- Volunteering at the Oshkosh Public Library or a local literacy organization
Make a Financial Contribution
Books, programs, and events all cost money. You can support Read More and the numerous literacy-focused organizations in Oshkosh. To financially support Reading Makes Better Oshkosh, please reach out via the form below.
Share Your Story
One of the best ways to get involved is to simply share your reading story with the Oshkosh community. Our Oshkosh reading ambassadors can inspire others by showing how reading has made them better — better thinkers, neighbors, creators, dreamers, and more.
Share their own reading journey on social media using #ReadingMakesBetter and #ReadMoreOshkosh or participate in interviews to be featured on our website and social media!
